Repweb - webtool for explication

Patarakin Evgeny

Sorry, english is not my native language. Russian version must be better

The grids - (grilles)

What is it? - they are bipolar scales which we used in science, arts and every day's life:
beau - laid, east -- west, top -- down, etc.
Some of them are explicit and understandable for everyone.
Some of them are implicit and are understandable only for one person or in professional culture:
as in Aix - as in Pereslavl ): only Manue and me can use this construct
Some time we use construct only with one pole - "WEBNESS" for example.
Anyway it means that there is another pole - "Not WEBNESS", or something like that.

How we use grids? We are looking on the world through the grids and we are preparing our mental products (projects) on these grilles.

How can we understand what is "under wrap of words" when we listen another one?
We need to look on the world through his/her greed
What can help us to do it? - Repertoire Greed Test and Repweb!

How it works? First of all we need to choose a field of discussion.
Within the framework of RAT it can be web-design, video, etc. .. In the REPWEB we put any items - - http links, image or video as an elements of the field.

Now, we can start construct acquisition:
We show three elements, and ask a question:
Please, propose different poles of the scale which differ one of the elements from two another
And our user (expert) write his/her first construct:

Now the program show list of all elements and ask a question:
According how you feel mark the elements on the scale of this construct
Then the program repeat procedures of construct acquisition and scaling for a several times. It is clear, that each time expert sorted elements to a different heaps. The main different between an expert and a novice is that an expert have many usable and powerful constructs to sort information and to produce more structural map (tree) of a field.

In the last version of the Repweb we have used metaphors "tree is a list and it is a table" and convert lists of clusters directly to html items - tables or lists. Therefore, Repweb users can see clusters as a tables or lists.
On the next pictures (Pict. 1, 2) you can see how first year student sort web-site with the help of Repweb. The are only two heaps and all his constructs are the same: "I like interesting and funny web-sites with interesting information" - "I hate ..."

Next example (Pict. 3, 4) the grid of the computer science (thanks to Natasha). It is in Russian. But anyway you can see that system of categories is more structural you can believe me that there are no emotional constructs.

One of a educational problem is to explicate expert constructs to the students, and to teach students how to use these constructs on the right way. Hot example - we get a constructs from Annick Bereau lecture and make a special grid with elements (web-sites) and her constructs.

The main concept of our Repweb is a Kelly's psychology of a man as "personal scientists" in anticipating the world. We believe that Repweb can help us to explain our ideas during RAT more correctly.
